From 19 to 21 October 2022, ESTEEM3 participated in the International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI) to discuss the most challenging issues and pressing needs in research infrastructure policy-making related to both the post-pandemic recovery and the future development of research infrastructures, in Brno (Czech Republic).

Three days, four hundred and fifty participants, almost a hundred of speakers, nearly forty Side and Satellite events and a Citizen programme every evening during the whole week. That was ICRI 2022. The discussions revolved around the sharing of research infrastructures, i.e. equipment, instruments, and data, as well as the possibilities of international cooperation, financing, ensuring sustainability and energy savings in demanding operations. Mobilising research infrastructures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic or strengthening preparedness for future crises were also discussed.

During this 3-day event, ESTEEM3 held a virtual stand, with partners to answer questions from participants and strengthen our network.

If you´ve missed any of the ICRI 2022 presentations or want to watch them again, they are now available on the conference platform. If you're unsure where to find them, we've prepared a simple step-by-step manual. Of course, the official ICRI 2022 Proceedings are still under creation and should be ready in November.

In addition, ESTEEM3 actively participated in the event by being involved together with the European Science Foundation, the MOSBRI Project, the VITALISE Project, and EuroPlanet at a satellite side event within the framework of the ICRI 2022 Conference in Brno, on “Long-term sustainability of small and mid-scale distributed RI projects”.

The side event took place on Wednesday, 19 October 2022 from 9:00-12:00 am in a hybrid form, with in-person attendance capacity and unlimited online participation spots.

In this framework, Rafal Dunin-Borkowski from the Peter Gruenberg Institute Research Centre in Jüelich (Germany), was glad to participate, and present the ESTEEM3 project during Session 1 on "Sustainability approaches" and debate with other participants in the two other sessions.
