Many successful projects stem from transnational access provided by ESTEEM3. This week, we focus on the “2D Nanosheets” project from the Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications which was granted access to TA provider StEM with very positive outcomes.

ESTEEM3 facilitates the access to the state-of-the-art TEM instruments for a wide range of users, including international users. Since the beginning of ESTEEM3, a lot of successful projects raised from TA provision. Among them: the “2D Nanosheets” project of Prof. Runfeng Chen from the Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China.

The project requested access to The Stuttgart Center for Electron Microscopy (StEM) in Germany in May 2019. The central aim of the access project was to study the development of an efficient and environmentally friendly LPE method to prepare highly pure 2H MoS2 (Molybdenum disulfide) ultra-thin nanosheets using liquid nitrogen.

As a successful outcome of his TA project, Prof. Chen published a manuscript in the renowned journal ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering.
